The Everett Community College poster reflects a number of ideas being explored now by this team.

  • Faculty development – especially with adjunct faculty – using faculty seminars, conducted by faculty members and outside experts.
  • Yearly review of success data for developmental level classes. Review of not only success/failure rates but progression though the course sequence. Consultation with institutional researcher on other questions we might ask.
  • A review of how the department might gain consensus on initiatives, both with full-time faculty and adjunct faculty.
  • Review of student attributes (from TMP) and discussion about how to implement student attributes in developmental education math classes.
  • Discussion of alternative pathways (including discussion of new statistics option).
  • Create an instructor-based learning community within a specific class (example – Math 81) where instructors can develop protocols for reviewing student work for formative assessment.
