Highline Community College

As their poster reflects, the Highline Community College team plans on a review of their mathematics program that includes addressing faculty and staff buy-in, part-time faculty professional development, placement approaches and state-level issues such as the direct transfer agreement policy (DTA). They note the idea of a ‘grass roots highway’ as a way of conveying a focus on new pathways for students including a Math 80 algebra I basics course and an algebra II functions and relationships course leading to a college-level liberal arts math course, a statistics course, a college algebra course or a math for elementary education course. In addition, the poster reflects a math 99 algebra for calculus course leading to college-level course options such as pre-calculus I or business calculus.
