Transition Mathematics Project

Columbia Basin College (CBC) has received one additional year of funding following a successful TMP Phase I demonstration project. CBC’s project serves Benton and Franklin counties in southeast Washington State and includes partners from Kennewick, Pasco and Richland School Districts. Local partners will work to enhance their cross-sector partnerships through additional analysis of student achievement data, understanding math teacher professional development needs and assessing current knowledge of college math readiness in key stakeholder groups. A long-term goal of the CBC project is to provide information that is school-specific to teachers, counselors, parents and students through a targeted communication and outreach plan. Additionally, the project aims to develop interventions which will increase student achievement on college math placement assessments and increase the number of high school students taking senior year math courses.
