Washington Mathematics and Placement (WAMAP)

This project sponsors the website, Washington Mathematics and Placement. WAMAP.org is an open-source web-based system for delivering homework, diagnostics, and other assessments in mathematics and mathematics-based sciences, as well as a simple course management system tailored for used by the same disciplines. WAMAP created algorithmically generated questions, so each student receive a customized version of each question, discouraging cheating while encouraging collaboration.

Numerical and mathematical expression answers are automatically graded, providing students immediate feedback on their work. Discussion forums and an internal messaging system allow exchange between students and faculty using a simple calculator-style mathematics entry format which is immediately rendered in type-set quality.
