How/Why Do Math Departments Organize Around Innovation?
Helen Burn, Jan Ray
Additional presenters: Erik Scott and Jim Brady
On the final day of the 2009 TMP Institute, we invited three seasoned college math leaders to discuss this session’s framing question, namely How/Why Do Math Departments Organize around Innovation? We asked them to specifically describe their ideas around the role of departmental culture in planning, managing, and initiating departmental change specifically in community and technical college math departments. We’ve captured their presentations and posted them here as podcasts to help support the work of the Pre-college Math Program.
Session Materials:
- Erik Scott, Math Instructor and a former Math Department Head, Highline Community College

- Janet Ray, Professor Emeritus, Math Department, Seattle Central Community College

- Jim Brady, Dean of Computing, Math and Science, Spokane Falls Community College
