I'm online now and have loaded your powerpoint slides. I've placed a countdown timer on the screen and you will be able to begin when you hear it sound. I have made you a moderator so that you can move the slides along --------------------- Moderator (Tina Bloomer): Great and thanks, I was just going to check with Bill about that. --------------------- Sheila: My microphone is not working, can I just switch to telephone? --------------------- Moderator (BillM): there was echo --------------------- Moderator (BillM): volume was low --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to Sheila: Sheila, ihave you gone to the Tools>Audio>audio setup wizard and still not been able to get your mic to work? --------------------- Sheila: yes i have-- nothing is working --------------------- Sheila: I will not be able to talk --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to BillM: Bill-sheila cannot get her mic to work. I have set this session up as version 9 so that we could use teleconference if needed, but I have not signed into the teleconference bridge yet because I didn't know if you wanted to use it. Do you? If so there will be the recording from the bridge that will be heard by everyone --------------------- Moderator (BillM): Is Sheila a presenter from Highline or Yakima? otherwise I think chat should be fine --------------------- Sheila: I'm supposed to be giving a presentation so this is unfortunate. --------------------- Moderator (BillM): OK work on the teleconference bridge, Chris --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to Sheila: I'll set up the bridge for you, Sheila. --------------------- Sheila: Thank you --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to BillM: Bill would you let folks know that there will be some funny noises going on til I get the bridge going. --------------------- George Lopez: My microphone is not working as well --------------------- Susie Navone - RTC: My microphone isn't working --------------------- Sheila: Yakima needs to work with IT to figure this out on our end because Wilma's computer won't work either. --------------------- Chris Johnson - RTC: You can click the green arrow when she calls your college name --------------------- Rachel Anderson: Sorry, I don't have a mike...but I'm here! I'm the Dean of Arts and Sciences at Big Bend CC --------------------- Moderator (BillM): hang on Tina --------------------- Sheila: ok, great -- thank you --------------------- Sheila: and George --------------------- Moderator (Tina Bloomer): It's not me --------------------- Moderator (Tina Bloomer): Chris that was a message to Bill. Sorry --------------------- Paul B: I will most likely have to leave before you complete introductions. I am an Instructor at RTC. I did not here about this until today so I have a conflict. As an Instructor ATD has been fantastic. My program was a focus group for a strategy this year linking a counselor with my self and new students. This was very succesful for retention. This Platform is great. Paul Baeder --------------------- Paul B: yw. glad to know this works tina. I just had the software insatlled 3 hours ago --------------------- George Lopez to Tina Bloomer, Chris Gildner, BillM: It seems that my microphone is working --------------------- Moderator (Tina Bloomer): Chris gets all the credit for assistance on Elluminate --------------------- Paul B: Chris thank you for your instruction demo here. I have to leave now. Paul Baeder --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to BillM: Even if they can't get on the elluminate interface, they can join in by teleconference. Would you like me to publish that number? --------------------- Moderator (BillM): sure --------------------- Susie Navone - RTC: My microphone doesn't work --------------------- Chris Johnson - RTC: Thanks Marty! --------------------- Chris Johnson - RTC: No, Marty introduced us. --------------------- Chris Johnson - RTC: exactly --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to Susie Navone - RTC: Susie, if you would like to speak during this session and cannot get your mic to work, you can click on the little telephone handset that is directly across to the right of the microphone icon in the bottom left corner of your screen - just under the slider bars in the audio section. --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to Susie Navone - RTC: This will put you in to the teleconference bridge just like Sheila has done --------------------- Susie Navone - RTC: Thank you, I see that and will try that if I need to say something. I appreciate your help. --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to Susie Navone - RTC: Highline website: http://www.highline.edu/ia/atd/index.htm --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner): Highline website: http://www.highline.edu/ia/atd/index.htm --------------------- Moderator (Sheila): ok --------------------- Mike Lang: Got your message Candy. Happy to have you aboard. --------------------- Erik Scott: That's an interesting prospect -- that the sections which capture late-enrolling students are those with study skills links. --------------------- Moderator (Sheila): Yes, it is. --------------------- Chris Johnson - RTC: I can hear you --------------------- Chris Johnson - RTC: or I did --------------------- Peggy Moe: Not that important --------------------- Erik Scott: We can also use chat to announce lessons. --------------------- Erik Scott: Follow up to Mike Lang - the Highline section of college success course attached to AtD allowed substantial discussion with students about their decision-making around taking math courses. --------------------- Jason Ramirez: Has anyone looked at how to engage and motivate males of color? --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to BillM: Bill, I've tried to call Uri's assistant to get a contact for Uri, but had to leave a message, tried and old number for him that is disconnected and have sent an email to him with no response. I think he was in a pretty intense meeting in Calif and it may have gone on longer than he expected. Do you have a phone number for him that you would like me to try? --------------------- Tacoma Community College: www.aleks.com --------------------- Tacoma Community College: Hi from Min. --------------------- Erik Scott: No - private conversation --------------------- Moderator (BillM): i dont have a number--we'll live if he can't join us --------------------- Erik Scott: It may have gotten lost in the chat stream: Jason Ramirez asked, "Has anyone looked at how to engage and motivate males of color?" This was a major topic at the AtD Strategy Institute. --------------------- Helen Burn: neither can i.... --------------------- Erik Scott: Does anyone's institution have developmental math in a separate "dev ed" department, or a permanent cross-disciplinary meeting structure? --------------------- Jason Ramirez: I should be more specific: Exploration of the salient motivation and engagement issues of academically under-prepared male students of color. --------------------- Uri Treisman: Hey guys, it's uri --------------------- Helen Burn: Hi Uri --------------------- Uri Treisman: I do I think --------------------- Uri Treisman: yes, I think --------------------- Moderator (Tina Bloomer): We won't hold that against him --------------------- Uri Treisman: It's yellow--magic --------------------- Uri Treisman: I just entered --------------------- Moderator (BillM): what are the best places to find those resources? --------------------- Uri Treisman: Hey George! --------------------- George Lopez: Hello Uri, I hope you have been well. --------------------- Erik Scott: Uri - This is what Highline is pursuing. How do we get better connected to this community? --------------------- Erik Scott: Difference may also be whether you include those entering at the "top" of the precollege sequence or not. --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to BillM: don't forget Erik --------------------- Helen Burn: right --------------------- Erik Scott: Please spell her name for reference. --------------------- Erik Scott: Thx --------------------- Moderator (BillM): Oops--I tried to be tricky with the poll "quiz" and got the data wrong--I reversed it, so it should actually have been 1/3 instead of 2/3... --------------------- Helen Burn: that's a great idea --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner): a link to a Marnie Nair publication: http://www.utdanacenter.org/umln/downloads/austin07/nair_algebra.pdf --------------------- Erik Scott: Yes --------------------- Helen Burn: thanks --------------------- Moderator (BillM): http://www.washingtonmesa.org/ --------------------- Helen Burn: More on WA MESA http://uwnews.org/uweek/uweekarticle.asp?articleID=39595 --------------------- Moderator (BillM): it's a work in progress --------------------- Uri Treisman: Take care --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner): Use the check and x at the top of your screen --------------------- Candy - BBCC: But sometime other than Friday afternoon. --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner): Here is your opportunity to tell us what day/time is best for you all. please fill in the chat with this info --------------------- Jason Ramirez to Tina Bloomer, Chris Gildner, BillM: Friday afternoons --------------------- Erik Scott: This one - Friday afternoons. --------------------- Marty Cooksey: Highline -- I'm interested in speaking with you regarding these new pathways. --------------------- Moderator (BillM): Dana center "practices worthy of attention" web site: --------------------- Rachel Anderson: Friday afternoon works for me too... --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to BillM: did you want to pull christine into the conversation again? --------------------- Moderator (BillM): http://www.utdanacenter.org/pwoa/ --------------------- George Lopez: Wednesdays and Fridays are better for me in the afternoons --------------------- Helen Burn: Advance notice is more important than particular dates. --------------------- Tacoma Community College: Tacoma is interested, but we also have conerns based on the tremendousl amount of time AtD is already mandating for us with freuquent campus core team meetings and frequent mandated meetings with coaches --------------------- barbara whitney: Friday afternoon --------------------- Tacoma Community College: I understand - but many other AtD related work is mandated by the AtD program --------------------- Jason Ramirez: I would like to thank John House for putting this together. --------------------- Moderator (Chris Gildner) to Christine McCabe: Thanks for sitting in with us today, Christine. I'm pleased that you were able to get connected. --------------------- Susie Navone - RTC: no, just meant to applaud --------------------- Susie Navone - RTC: have a good weekend!
