Initiative Summary

Provide long-term professional development related to science and mathematics for teachers of grades 6-12 leading to conceptual and applicable student learning. These professional development experiences target increasing leadership capacity in individual buildings and strengthening the understanding and implementation of high quality teaching.

Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) are being formed among related middle and high schools. Each PLC will consist of a mathematics and science teacher from each building, and a principal-designate. Each PLC will be the core of a group of expanded building teams, consisting of 2-6 additional math and science teachers. A district-level coach will support each PLC, as well as a senior staff consisting of the 2 co-PIs, 2 ESD representatives, and partnering district representatives.
